JSA prepared a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) for a proposed mixed use (co-living housing & commercial) development in Petersham within the Parramatta Road Corridor Urban Transformation Strategy area. The SIA was prepared in accordance with Inner West Council’s Development Application Documentation Requirements (June 2024) ensuring that the envisaged positive and negative impacts the development may have on people’s way of life have been outlined, and that appropriate strategies to mitigate, minimise, and resolve any negative impacts have been considered.
JSA assessed the proposal in terms of its: amenity for future residents and nearby neighbours; proximity to public transport, shops, services, open space areas, education and employment opportunities; local crime and safety context; affordability and response to identified housing needs in the Inner West. Community consultation with local businesses and nearby residents was also carried out, providing the Applicant with feedback including some concerns but also support for redevelopment of the site and for the proposed use in the locality more broadly.
