We are particularly skilled in organisational reviews, strategic planning for organisations, conflict resolution, governance and management support, service model and program evaluation and assisting with strategy implementation.

JSA has worked extensively with Community Housing Providers in NSW, Western Australia and Victoria on complex corporate group formations, growth strategies, and brokering affordable housing partnerships with government and businesses. This work has included assisting with:

Reform of NSW Housing Co-operatives
Office of Community Housing NSW

JSA assisted the Office of Community Housing with the development and implementation of the NSW Co-Operative Housing Strategy, including a new business model for 50 individual organisations that made up the housing co-operative sector in NSW at the time to better use available resources and leverage additional funds to increase the supply of affordable housing managed and where feasible owned under housing co-operative structures. The project also involved assisting the sector to transfer from Co-operative to Company status under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), as well as assisting the sector with the resolution of all legal, planning, policy, governance and operational issues in the short-term, and providing support to implement appropriate transition arrangements in the longer-term.

Amalgamation and Growth Strategy development for two CHPs

JSA developed a range of options for legal, governance and operational structures and related financial arrangements, and facilitated an agreed position between the two CHPs as to the preferred options, outlining and doing preliminary work on steps toward amalgamation of the two CHPs including initial due diligence, operational systems review, consultations with Boards and staff at all levels of the organisations to identify and deal with key issues and barriers to amalgamations, and a communications strategy to facilitate harmonious change management.
