Social Impact Assessment for Co-Living Housing Development in Marrickville within Transport Oriented Development (TOD) Program Area

By 7 January 2026No Comments

The NSW Government Transport Oriented Development Program (TOD) strategy aims to create “vibrant and walkable communities” “by building more housing near the metro and rail stations, we can enable more people to live close to transport, jobs, services, night life and amenities”

JSA is currently preparing a Social Impact Assessment for a seven storey residential flat building co-living development within the Transport Oriented Development catchment for Marrickville Railway Station.  The proposed development will provide 43 co-living housing rooms which will be fully furnished, self-contained studios with private open space balconies (or garden at ground level); kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities; wardrobe and kitchen storage.  The development will also provide both indoor and outdoor communal areas for residents.

The proposed development is in line with the strategic objectives of the TOD and will provide much needed accommodation for low and moderate income renters of a good amenity in an accessible area close to education facilities, major employment centres and the Sydney CBD.
