More and more Councils in NSW are taking steps to prepare an Affordable Housing Contributions Scheme to better meet local affordable housing need in their communities in ways that consider local land use planning options, strategic directions and local housing markets.
JSA is currently providing Byron Shire Council, Cumberland City Council and Inner West Council with expert analysis and advice to prepare an Affordable Housing Contributions Scheme as per State Environmental Planning Policy No 70 – Affordable Housing (Revised Schemes) (SEPP 70) and the NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s Guideline for Developing an Affordable Housing Contributions Scheme. For each local government area, this includes investigating and preparing evidence of affordable housing need, identifying areas to which an affordable housing contribution scheme could apply, determining a viable affordable housing contribution rate and the preparing planning proposals to amend LEPs to reference the affordable housing contribution scheme.
JSA has completed more than 50 affordable housing strategies and policies for diverse State and local government authorities in NSW, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia, often in complex policy and political environments.
